When the Roadgrip Airports division recently completed the runway grooving in Cozumel, Mexico, there was more to the job than the airfield surface preparation. The job also involved some complicated logistics to transport all the machinery to this large Caribbean island near Cancun.
Our local team in Mexico assisted in the job, which took two months from start to finish. With all hands on deck, we grooved the airfield to FAA specifications (6mmx6mm @ 38 mm centres) and carried out the full runway remark to TTP1952D runway painting specification with reflective beads.
As you can see from the images of the grooved runway, we carried out the works through the night to minimise disruption.
