Roadgrip Airports have been connected to the airports of Panama for a number of years. Our global team work on specific projects throughout the year to keep the runways safe. For the 2023 works, we carried out joint sealing and crack sealing to the concrete runway at Tocumen International Airport.
As a global company, we are committed to employing the talents of local workers in the communities we work. In Panama, we have a core team of local employees who bring their skilled labour to each project.
At Tocumen, we began by routing out and removing 21,000 linear meters of existing joint sealant from the concrete runway at the Copa Airlines hub.
Our team then cleaned the joints, sandblasted and primed the surface before installing the backing foam and new sealant. For this project, we used FAA approved Dow Corning cold-applied sealant. The imperfect areas and cracks have now been remedied and runway life has been extended.
