Roadgrip Motorsport supported Formula E in China at the spectacular Sanya E-Prix, delivering the specialist track markings, sporting lines and event branding that transformed the city’s waterfront streets into a world championship race circuit.
As with every Formula E event, precision, speed and careful planning were essential to prepare the circuit before the arrival of teams, drivers and race officials.
Unlike many venues on the Formula E calendar, the Sanya International Circuit was a temporary street circuit set against the tropical coastline of Hainan Island, often referred to as “China’s Hawaii”. The 2.2 km layout wound its way around the city’s waterfront district, combining long straights with a series of tight, technical corners that challenged drivers while offering spectacular views of the South China Sea.
Transforming busy public roads into a world-class motorsport venue required meticulous planning, with every element of the circuit prepared to FIA standards before racing could begin.
Roadgrip Motorsport installed the sporting lines that define the racing line, along with the painted run-off areas and Formula E event branding that gave the circuit its distinctive identity.
Working within tight installation windows, our teams applied high-performance anti-slip coatings designed specifically for motorsport, ensuring the markings delivered both exceptional visibility and the grip characteristics required for elite competition.
Large-scale event graphics and sponsor branding completed the transformation, creating a circuit that looked every bit as impressive on global television broadcasts as it did for spectators lining the streets of Sanya.
From permanent racing circuits to temporary street tracks like Sanya, Roadgrip Motorsport provides specialist circuit preparation services for Formula E around the world.
