At Roadgrip Motorsport, precision and innovation go hand in hand, especially when it comes to placing logos on high-speed race circuits. That’s why we’ve embraced virtual reality as a game-changing tool in our branding process. Here’s how VR elevates our logo layout strategy and why it matters.

Immersive Planning Without Boundaries

Before any paint touches the track, our design team steps into a VR environment that mirrors the circuit exactly. Whether it’s a temporary street track or a dedicated race venue, VR lets us walk the course in virtual space, placing sponsor logos and branding elements with millimetre-perfect accuracy. The system maps virtual positions directly to real-world coordinates, corners, kerbs, and spectator viewpoints alike.

Perfect for Intricate Logo Work

We don’t use VR for large-scale track logos (that’s where our robot plotter comes in) where we need to deliver precise line marking for the biggest and boldest designs. Instead, VR shines when working on smaller, more intricate logos, where accuracy is critical and space is tight.

A great example was at Formula E Shanghai, where we applied sponsor logos in Mandarin Chinese. The complex characters demanded careful positioning and perfect proportions, and VR allowed us to preview exactly how they would look from multiple angles before marking out on the real surface.

Real-Time Visualisation Across Perspectives

Seeing is believing. In VR, logos can be viewed from various vantage points: from onboard camera positions, broadcast towers, or fan stands. Designers adjust size, angle, and orientation immediately, ensuring that each logo looks perfect during hot laps or podium shots. These on-the-fly tweaks eliminate guesswork and reduce the potential for costly reworks.

VR Meets Motorsport Standards

VR is widely recognised in motorsports for planning runs, driver training, and even safety simulations. Roadgrip brings that same high-tech approach to branding, ensuring every logo placement is as performance-driven as the racing itself.

In short, VR isn’t just a cool tool, it’s a precision instrument that ensures our branding is race-ready before the real race even begins.
