Ahead of this year’s F1 Belgian Grand Prix, Roadgrip Motorsport returned to the Ardennes to install the sporting lines and recreate the distinctive red, yellow and black run-off designs that have become synonymous with one of Formula 1’s most iconic venues.
Every Formula 1 circuit has its own identity.
At Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the track colours are now almost as recognisable as the circuit itself.
The geometric bands of black, yellow and red sweep around the run-off areas, framing corners that Formula 1 fans know instantly. None is more famous than Eau Rouge and Raidillon, where the colours climb the hillside behind one of the greatest corners in world motorsport.
Seen from helicopters, onboard cameras and packed grandstands, they give the Belgian Grand Prix its unmistakable character.
Every year, those colours have to be recreated.
Spa-Francorchamps is unlike almost anywhere else on the Formula 1 calendar.
Set deep within Belgium’s Ardennes Forest, the circuit follows the natural contours of the landscape, rising and falling through forests, valleys and open hillsides. Weather can change from sunshine to heavy rain within minutes, often affecting one part of the circuit while another remains completely dry.
Our crews recreated the large-scale painted run-off designs throughout the circuit, carefully matching the vibrant Belgian national colours that have become part of Spa’s visual identity. Every section had to align perfectly with the circuit layout, creating flowing designs that complement the natural shape of each corner rather than overpower it.
The result is something millions of viewers recognise without even needing to see the circuit name on the screen.
