Roadgrip completed a comprehensive warehouse marking project in Newton Aycliffe, UK, creating new pallet storage bays and clearly defined pedestrian routes across both the ground floor and mezzanine levels of a new warehouse facility.
For this project, precision and durability were key requirements, particularly given the polished concrete substrate and the constant forklift traffic the facility will experience.
We began by setting out the entire layout before mechanically preparing the polished concrete surface using specialist shot blasting equipment. This process creates a surface profile allowing the coating system to bond properly with the concrete.
For the 50mm line markings, the team shot blasted strips as narrow as 100mm wide, while wider areas were prepared to match the required marking dimensions.
Once the preparation works were complete, the layout was re-set out to ensure every measurement remained 100% accurate before moving to the next stage of the installation.
Following surface preparation, a specialist concrete primer was applied to maximise adhesion and long-term coating performance.
Every line was then carefully taped on both sides prior to painting. While time-consuming, this attention to detail is what creates the crisp, sharp finish that distinguishes professionally installed warehouse markings from standard floor paint applications.
The pallet storage bays were completed in white, providing clear visual definition for storage locations, while all pedestrian walkways, crossings and safe walking routes were installed in yellow to maximise visibility and reinforce segregation throughout the warehouse.
The final stage of the project involved applying a protective sealant to lock the markings into the floor system. This not only creates an attractive, slightly glossy finish but also makes the floor easier to clean and maintain.
This also ensures the markings can withstand the daily demands of a busy warehouse environment, particularly in areas subject to frequent forklift movements and repeated traffic loading.
Projects like this demonstrate how floor markings are about far more than aesthetics.
Clearly defined pallet bays improve organisation and space utilisation, while dedicated pedestrian routes help support safer movement throughout the facility. Combined with proper surface preparation and durable coating systems, these markings become an important operational asset that continues delivering value long after installation.
The result is a warehouse that is not only visually organised, but also safer and more efficient for the people working within it every day. Contact our friendly UK team for a quick quote for your warehouse.
