It’s not every week our Roadgrip Trackjet team swaps race circuits and highways for the grounds and driveway of a country house in rural Oxfordshire, UK.

With some beautiful spring UK weather and a welcome change of scenery, our team worked alongside Wiltshire Asphalt Recycling on a specialist driveway installation that combined the durability of asphalt with the appearance of a traditional gravel drive.

A Smarter Alternative to Loose Gravel Driveways

Gravel driveways have long been associated with country estates and rural properties, but they come with familiar drawbacks like loose stones, rutting, ongoing maintenance and movement under vehicle traffic.

This project used a much more modern and engineered solution to those issues.

Wiltshire Asphalt Recycling laid a specially designed coloured asphalt surface incorporating a light-coloured graded aggregate. Once the material had cured, Roadgrip’s Trackjet system was used to carefully remove the upper layer of bitumen from the surface.

This exposed the decorative aggregate beneath, creating the visual effect of a natural gravel driveway while retaining the structural integrity and stability of asphalt.

How Trackjet Works

The Trackjet system uses ultra high pressure (UHP) water technology to precisely remove the surface film of bitumen without damaging the aggregate structure underneath. It’s both strong and gentle.

By exposing the stone evenly across the surface, the process creates a textured, natural-looking finish that’s stable and hard-wearing without loose gravel

The result is a driveway that looks traditional but performs like modern infrastructure.

Combining Driveway Appearance with Performance

This type of finish is increasingly popular on high-end residential and estate projects because it offers the best of both worlds.

The exposed aggregate finish also provides excellent traction and surface durability, making it suitable for regular vehicle use while maintaining a premium appearance.

Whether it’s exposing aggregate on a country estate driveway or preparing surfaces for international racing, our principle remains the same: understanding materials, controlling surface finish and delivering precision results.
