Roadgrip Airports has completed the successful delivery of runway rubber removal, runway paint removal and subsequent runway painting at Oscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport (SAL), El Salvador.
With 40,000m2 of rubber and 2000m2 of flaking paint on the runway centreline, the team used ultra high-pressure water blasting for the removal for effective cleaning without damaging the underlying surface.
When the surface of the runway was clear of rubber and paint, our line marking team used an airless sprayer to apply a water-based acrylic paint with type 3 beads to create a new 2000 m2 of centreline to FAA specification.
For the runway maintenance, Roadgrip utilised its bespoke containerised rubber removal unit to undertake the removal.
This airfield maintenance project took three weeks and was undertaken within restricted night possessions under notams. Well done, team. Next stop, Honduras!
