Roadgrip’s UK line marking team has recently completed a programme of yard and car park markings for a busy logistics company, supporting both the initial layout and safety improvements across the site.
The project began with the installation and configuration of car park markings across the yard and parking areas, creating a clear and structured environment for vehicles, operatives and visitors. Following this, the team returned to introduce additional markings, including enhanced safe walking routes to further improve site safety.
Logistics environments are high-pressure, high-movement spaces. HGVs, forklifts, delivery vehicles and pedestrians are all operating in close proximity, often under tight time constraints, which makes safety on site a top priority.
We began by defining vehicle routes and loading zones and car park bay markings for the first phase. The second phase saw a refresh of pedestrian walkways, safety zones and exclusion areas.
Getting this right from the outset is critical. Clear markings reduce confusion, improve traffic flow and help minimise the risk of incidents.
Following the initial installation, there was an opportunity to further strengthen safety across the site.
This second phase reflects a common reality in logistics environments; layouts evolve as operations grow, and markings need to adapt accordingly.
By revisiting the site, the team ensured the markings continued to meet the demands of day-to-day operations while improving overall safety for staff and visitors.
All markings were installed using screed applied thermoplastic, a material chosen for its durability and performance in demanding environments.
Thermoplastic offers several key advantages for logistics yards:
Applied in thicker layers than standard coatings, screed thermoplastic provides a robust, hard-wearing finish that stands up to constant use from HGVs and plant machinery.
Well-planned and well-maintained markings are a simple but effective way to improve safety and efficiency in logistics operations.
Projects like this are about more than just applying lines. They’re about understanding how a site operates and delivering markings that support it.
