Roadgrip Motorsport USA was back at Circuit of the Americas painting the track for the 2026 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, including the iconic red, white and blue designs that our team originally helped to create.
Those sweeping stars and stripes have become synonymous with COTA, giving the Austin circuit one of the most distinctive visual identities in international motorsport.
For Roadgrip, there’s something particularly rewarding about returning year after year to work on designs that have become such a recognisable part of the venue.
Since opening in 2012, Circuit of the Americas has established itself as one of Formula 1’s most distinctive modern venues.
Its 5.513-kilometre layout features 20 corners, dramatic elevation changes and a particularly memorable opening sequence.
The enormous red, white and blue run-off areas, painted stars and bold circuit graphics have become just as recognisable as the racing itself.
Seen from grandstands, television helicopters and trackside cameras, the designs turn the asphalt surrounding the circuit into a visual celebration of the United States.
And Roadgrip has been part of that story from the beginning.
When the original track branding concepts were developed, Roadgrip Motorsport helped establish the stars and stripes designs that would become synonymous with the venue.
Rather than treating run-off areas as purely functional spaces, the designs used their scale and visibility to create something memorable.
The American flag provided the inspiration, with bold geometric shapes, sweeping bands of colour and stars arranged across substantial areas of pavement.
Ahead of this year’s United States Grand Prix, our US motorsport crew was once again busy painting and refreshing the circuit markings.
Sporting lines, track boundaries and painted run-off designs must be set out accurately, with careful attention to the layout, dimensions and finish of each element.
The choice of coatings is equally important. Painted areas must be appropriate for their location, with surface grip and durability considered alongside appearance.
For sponsors and event organisers, that exposure makes the appearance of the circuit an important part of the overall presentation.
Each and every feature of the track design needs to be considered for a race of this calibre. learn more about our expertise and reputation at Roadgrip Motorsport or follow us on LinkedIn to see our work.
