The Roadgrip Motorsport USA team was at the famous New Hampshire Motor Speedway in New England completing the track striping ahead of its NASCAR race weekend.
Known simply as the “Magic Mile”, New Hampshire Motor Speedway is the largest sports and entertainment facility in the New England states and has been welcoming NASCAR since the early 1990s.
The approximately 1.058-mile oval may be relatively compact, but its progressive banking gives drivers different options through the corners, encouraging multiple racing lines and creating the potential for side-by-side competition.
For the Roadgrip team, the job was to make sure the track looked the part before the NASCAR field arrived.
Our US crew completed the circuit striping, refreshing the lines around the racing surface to create the sharp, clearly defined finish required for race weekend. As with all motorsport striping, the work has to account for the demands of competition, with coatings and application methods suited to a surface that will soon be subjected to high speeds, heavy tyre loads and an entire weekend of racing.

New Hampshire also has one of the more unusual victory traditions in motorsport.
Forget the conventional silver cup. The winner of New Hampshire’s NASCAR Cup Series race traditionally gets to celebrate with “Loudon the Lobster” – a giant live New England lobster weighing more than 20 pounds.
It’s a fittingly local prize and one that has produced some memorable victory-lane photographs over the years. The lobster is subsequently returned for preparation and served as part of the winner’s celebration.

Each venue is different, and that’s what makes the work interesting. At New Hampshire, it meant preparing one of New England’s best-known sporting venues and putting fresh lines around a track that has been entertaining NASCAR fans for decades.
