While Roadgrip Motorsport is known for travelling the globe to support some of the world’s most prestigious motorsport events, our team also support race circuits closer to home. For this project, we installed the track markings at the legendary Silverstone Circuit, ahead of the MotoGP weekend.

This year’s British Grand Prix for MotoGP was moved forward from its usual August slot to an earlier position in the calendar, which meant we had to move to get the track prepared to FIM standards. Our team was on-site to deliver a full set of essential race markings using FIM-homologated paint, specifically developed for durability, grip, and visibility in motorcycle racing.

We applied the grid markings, edge lines, safety car lines, pit lane and braking zone markings. We also refreshed the internal road markings throughout the circuit which are essential for keeping traffic moving safely and efficiently behind the scenes, especially with both MotoGP and F1 just weeks apart.

The MotoGP layout at Silverstone differs slightly from the Formula 1 configuration, with minor changes in run-off areas and racing lines to suit the dynamics of motorcycle racing. These subtle variations mean the markings must be placed with absolute precision.

Why are these race circuit markings so important?

In a sport where margins are razor-thin and braking points are critical, these accurate and highly visible markings help riders to maintain control, hit their apexes, and stay safe, particularly in high-speed battles and mixed UK weather conditions.

As always, we’re proud to support Silverstone and MotoGP by playing our part in getting the track race-ready, helping deliver a smooth, safe, and spectacular show for fans and riders alike.
