Roadgrip Motorsport has been painting the renowned Lusail International Circuit in Qatar, preparing the track for the highly anticipated FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) event. The Lusail Circuit is a key venue in global motorsport, offering high-speed straights and technical corners that our team have enhanced with striking designs and sporting lines.
Our team has been on-site for the past month, working closely with both the WEC race organisers and the venue itself. A key part of our role has been the application of branding and circuit markings, ensuring that the track not only looks world-class but also meets FIA regulations for safety and performance.
We have been responsible for applying the iconic Goodyear branding to the pit lane, reinforcing the partnership between the championship and its official tyre supplier.
We also applied the Rolex and WEC logos to the circuit walls using locally sourced paint and stencils. At Roadgrip, we always prioritise the use of local materials and talent whenever possible, helping to support the local economy and foster collaboration with skilled professionals in the region.
One of the most critical elements of track preparation is ensuring the racing surface meets safety and performance standards. Our team has applied sporting lines and run-off area markings using FIA-approved anti-slip paint. This specialised paint enhances grip for vehicles, reducing the risk of skidding and improving overall safety, particularly in high-speed sections and braking zones. The use of FIA-compliant anti-slip paint is essential for motorsport circuits, as it helps drivers maintain control during the intense wheel-to-wheel battles that define endurance racing.
It also helps with friction in wet weather, which is admittedly rare in this part of the world. In fact, despite our extensive experience working in Qatar, this project marked the first time we encountered rain at the circuit. Fortunately, our team is highly adaptable and well-versed in adjusting to weather-related challenges, ensuring that all work was completed on schedule without compromising on quality or precision.
Once the WEC event concludes, our job isn’t finished. We’re staying on site, ready to cover up the event branding with the venue’s sponsor, Qatar Airways, ensuring that the track maintains its premium aesthetic and aligns with its commercial partnerships.
We’ll also soon begin preparing for the MotoGP at Qatar so watch this space!
Working on a track as prestigious as Lusail International Circuit is always an honour, and we take pride in delivering world-class results for every event. As Roadgrip Motorsports continues to support global racing venues, our commitment to quality, safety, and local collaboration remains at the heart of everything we do.
