The Las Vegas Grand Prix is unlike any other race on the Formula 1 calendar – a city that never sleeps and a circuit woven through neon-lit streets. For the third year running, Roadgrip Motorsport had the privilege of delivering the full track markings and kerb installation, turning everyday roads into a street circuit built for speed and global attention.

A Kerb Design That Became a Global Talking Point

When we first revealed our custom kerb design back in 2023, which showcased the four classic playing card suits of hearts, clubs, diamonds and spades, it immediately captured the imagination of broadcasters, photographers and fans around the world.

Those kerbs have now become an instantly recognisable signature of the race and a visual stamp that sets Vegas apart from every other track on the F1 calendar.

Converting a Living City into a World-Class Circuit

Preparing Las Vegas for Formula 1 requires a unique balance: the city must continue functioning as normal while slowly morphing into a high-speed street circuit. That transformation begins with cold track striping where we adapt everyday road markings to suit temporary traffic flows, pedestrian routes and safety features for when the race barriers go in.

We applied high-friction, FIA-approved coatings that serve a dual purpose. These paints offer the grip levels necessary for F1 machinery but remain safe and compliant for standard road users in the weeks leading up to the event. Crosswalks, lane lines and directional arrows all had to be repositioned with absolute clarity so that the city could operate efficiently while the circuit slowly took shape.

Unlike permanent circuits, streets don’t stop for race prep. The month-long cold-striping phase is about blending into the city’s rhythm without disrupting it.

Precision Work Under Pressure

As race week approaches, everything shifts into high gear. This is when our team transitions into hot track striping, installing the final markings that define the racing surface: sport lines, grid boxes, pit lane delineation, speed-critical entry and exit points, and the finishing touches that make the course unmistakably Formula 1.

Working through the heat, the crowds and the city’s growing anticipation, we laid every line using the same rigorous standards applied to the world’s top permanent circuits. The paint must look perfect on camera and withstand full-throttle cornering, heavy braking, late-night track cleaning and the demands of a multi-day racing programme.

Supporting the Race Live

Once the racing begins, Roadgrip maintains an on-site operations crew for the entire Grand Prix weekend, deployed around the track to respond immediately to whatever the sessions throw at us. From scuffed grid lines and debris-affected markings to post-incident track wear, our team stays on standby to restore clarity and maintain consistency throughout practices, qualifying and the race itself.

A Circuit’s Identity

Las Vegas thrives on personality, and this circuit is no exception. We’re proud that our kerb design, inspired by the city’s iconic relationship with cards and casinos, has become one of the race’s defining features. It’s a reminder that motorsport is more than engineering and speed; it’s also storytelling, place-making and creating something spectators will remember long after the chequered flag.

For Roadgrip Motorsport, delivering Las Vegas is about helping shape a global event, working hand-in-hand with the organisers, and bringing a touch of the city’s magic to every corner.
