The Lusail International Circuit is a celebration of culture, craftsmanship, and cutting-edge engineering, and once again, Roadgrip Motorsport had the honour of transforming the track into a visually stunning and high-performance circuit for the F1 Grand Prix 2024.
Our work at Lusail required 120,000 square meters of FIA-approved paint, applied with meticulous care to meet the highest standards of motorsport. This included everything from critical track markings to the breathtaking decorative patterns that have become a hallmark of the circuit.
As in previous years, the standout feature of the track is the Sadu textile-inspired design in the run-off areas. These geometric patterns, deeply rooted in the weaving traditions of Emirati women, are more than just decorative—they’re a celebration of Qatar’s rich cultural heritage.
The design reflects the surrounding environment and social identity of the region, making the track a perfect blend of motorsport innovation and traditional craftsmanship.
Recreating the intricate Sadu patterns is no easy feat. These designs, traditionally woven into fabric, have to be faithfully represented on a massive scale.
On top of this, every part of the track has to meet the FIA’s stringent safety standards. The FIA homologated paint we use is engineered for superior grip and performance, ensuring drivers can push their cars to the limit while staying safe, even in wet or challenging conditions.
To achieve the perfect finish, our team ensured every marking was applied with millimeter-perfect precision. The process combined cutting-edge technology with the artistry needed to replicate the Sadu patterns authentically.
What makes Lusail unique is its ability to fuse art and racing. Lusail celebrates its cultural identity to a global audience. The vibrant Sadu-inspired patterns are now instantly recognisable, making the circuit a favourite for fans and drivers alike.
At Roadgrip Motorsport, we’re proud to play a part in making circuits like Lusail more than just a racetrack. They’re international stages for culture, creativity, and innovation.
