After years of underinvestment, Wolverhampton Airport (Halfpenny Green Airfield) received the go-ahead and funds to completely resurface 95% of the entire aerodrome including three runways and all of the used taxiways.

As part of these infrastructure upgrades, which aimed to improve operations and safety, our team were brought in to reinstate all of the airfield markings on the newly resurfaced areas.

Using our Roadgrip Robot (which is more frequently used to set out Formula1 track designs), we set out the airfield markings to ensure they fully and accurately complied with the aerodrome charts. The robot plotter proved particularly useful in setting out the marking for the sweeping curves and was more than adept at setting out and marking laser straight guide marks for each of the three runways centre and edge markings.

This quick method of setting out allowed us to make best use of the limited suitable weather windows during a very wet February in the UK, to complete the marking project within programme.

See the robot plotter in action on our LinkedIn channel or contact the Roadgrip Airports team to find out more.
