2025 marks a milestone for Roadgrip Motorsport as we celebrate our 15th year preparing the world-famous Marina Bay street circuit in Singapore. Over the past decade and a half, this global event has become a fixture in our calendar, and every year it challenges our team to adapt and deliver at speed in this vibrant city.
This year’s preparations started with a damp spell, but once the rain cleared, we enjoyed the hottest and sunniest conditions we’ve ever experienced in Singapore. The window of dry weather came at exactly the right times to allow us to complete the complex works required to transform busy city streets into a world-class racing circuit.
Our teams textured 35,000m² of new asphalt around the track, ready to be textured using ultra-high-pressure water jets (UHP) to deliver the grip and skid resistance required for the extreme demands of Formula 1. Every year, the track surface is engineered to meet the highest standards of safety and performance, and this year was no different.
Unlike purpose-built race tracks, Singapore’s temporary circuit only closes to public traffic in the days leading up to the Grand Prix. That meant programming was crucial. Our crews worked seamlessly alongside numerous other contractors and suppliers on site to ensure every deadline was met. Contingency planning was built in to handle last-minute tweaks to track design – a challenge our experienced teams are well-versed in managing.
Operating in the heart of Singapore brings its own logistical challenges. This year, our teams not only travelled under the usual police escorts to and from the border, but also had to empty a police convoy to safely move equipment through the city’s busy traffic. Every year, this coordination demonstrates just how unique the Singapore project is in the world of motorsport.
The result was as sharp and striking as ever. The lines and branding that line the circuit have become iconic features of the Singapore Grand Prix, instantly recognisable to fans around the world. Every member of our team takes pride in the precision and quality of the finished look, knowing the stage is set for one of the most dramatic races on the F1 calendar.
