Roadgrip joined fellow aviation industry professionals from America and the Caribbean at the ALACPA International Seminar on Airport Pavements 2024 in Panama. Our expert team presented the advantages of grooving to an enthusiastic audience keen to learn more about the process.
Led by Natalia Porras, our project lead at Roadgrip in Costa Rica, the seminar highlighted the key benefits of grooved runways, which primarily improve aircraft safety and performance.
By creating grooves on the runway surface, it enhances water drainage, reducing the risk of hydroplaning during wet conditions. This leads to better traction, especially during landing and takeoff, allowing for shorter stopping distances. For airports receiving flights from turbojet planes, it’s an essential requirement for safety in wet weather climates.
Additionally, runway grooving helps to reduce the risk of runway skidding, contributing to overall safety for both aircraft and passengers. It’s a cost-effective way to maintain optimal runway conditions, ensuring safer, more reliable operations in various weather conditions.
Roadgrip Airports operate a fleet of grooving machines at airports throughout the world, improving safety and friction. Contact our team to find out more.
