Battling the elements and traffic in one of the world’s busiest cities comes with the territory for Roadgrip Motorsports who have completed the street circuit branding, marking and hydroblasting for the Singapore Grand Prix 2024.
Our team returns year after year to this iconic location for this high profile race event in the F1 calendar.
As the circuit is a temporary one, our team has to navigate various challenges that come with that. The circuit only shuts down fully two days before the race which means we have to begin work four weeks before and operate in restricted windows of time around the city traffic. We also need to allow for other suppliers and professionals working on the circuit and sharing the space. There is no spare storage for equipment which requires careful planning and logistics.
And, of course, in Singapore we have extreme weather to contend with too. One moment, our team are working in 30 degree heat and 100% humidity; the next, we’re dealing with tropical storms and monsoon rain. We have to stay one step ahead of the climate changes to plan for paint application and drying times.
With all that said, our team are familiar with the complexities in a project like this and have the expertise to deliver.
We successfully applied over 12,000m2 of track branding, 11,000m of line, pit and grid markings and 45,000m2 of high-pressure hydroblasting to clean the track surface.
Within minutes of the race event finishing, our team begin blacking out the edge lines and hydroblasting the runoffs and advertising ready for the streets to open again two days later. See the details here.
It’s all hands on deck until the city’s roads are back to how they were pre-race.
But what a finish! See the gallery below for the finished look of the Singapore Grand Prix 2024.
